Medical uses of Isopten 40 mg tablets for high blood pressure:

High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against the walls of the arteries is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease and angina (chest pain).

How to use Isopten 40 mg Tablet

  • Always take your tablets exactly as your doctor has told you.
  • If you are not sure, check the label on the package or consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Take your tablets with a glass of water. The tablets should be swallowed without chewing or crushing
  • It doesn't matter if you haven't eaten, so it can be taken with or without food.
  • The number of tablets you will need to take depends on the patient's condition.
  • Dosages may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to a hospital right away. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a forgotten dose.

Warnings and precautions while using Isoptin 40 mg Tablet

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have had heart failure in the past, or an irregular heartbeat you have very low blood pressure you have liver or kidney disease you are being treated with beta-blockers by injection (except in intensive care).
You have any neuromuscular diseases eg.
Myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or advanced Duchenne muscular dystrophy

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of the following medicines:

beta blockers used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease (these include propranolol and metoprolol) alpha blockers used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease and prostate disorders (these include prazosin and terazosin) medicines known as “statins” such as atorvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin used to lower cholesterol levels any other medicine for high blood pressure or an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) such as flecainide, quinidine, digoxin and digitoxin medicines used to treat depression (including the herbal product St John's Wort), anxiety or psychosis. These medications may include imipramine, buspirone, and lithium. Medicines known as immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine, sirolimus, everolimus, and tacrolimus. These are used to prevent organ transplant rejection.

How to store Isoptin 40 mg tablets

  • Store below 25°C. Do not refrigerate the medicine.
  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store in the original package to protect from moisture.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton/strip/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
