Mechanism Of Action Of Xylometazoline
A sympathomimetic that directly acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in arterioles of the nasal mucosa to produce vasoconstriction resulting in decreased blood flow.
Xylometazoline is a decongestant used for reducing nasal congestion caused by allergies or the common cold.
Xylometazoline causes blood vessels in the nasal passages to shrink (vasoconstrictor).
Vasoconstriction reduces nasal congestion by preventing fluid from draining from blood vessels into nasal passages.
