Betnovate-C ointment comprises two major ingredients: betamethasone and clioquinol. Betamethasone lowers inflammation by reducing the immune system's response to the affected area. This reduces edema, redness, and irritation caused by many skin problems.

What Betnovate-C Ointment used for:

  • Betnovate-C Ointment is a topical drug used to treat a wide range of skin problems, including eczema, Prurigo Nodularis, Lichen simplex chronicus, Psoriasis, Lichen planus, Allergic skin reaction, Otitis externa, skin reactions, Seborrheic, Prickly heat, dermatitis, and insect bites. 
  • Eczema is a common skin ailment characterized by itching and redness.
  • Prurigo Nodularis (the development of firm, irritating bumps on the skin).
  • Lichen simplex chronicus (itchy, thicker skin caused by scratching).
  • Psoriasis (thickened red and inflammatory skin coated in silvery scales), excluding extensive plaque psoriasis.
  • Lichen planus (red to purple, itchy, flat-topped lumps on the forearms, lower thighs, or wrists).
  • Allergic skin reaction (e.g., contact dermatitis) caused by a chemical or allergen coming into contact with the skin.
  • Otitis externa (inflammation, flaking, and red skin on the outer ear and ear canal).
  • Skin reactions from bug bites.
  • Seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly, red, itchy rash on the scalp, chest, back, or face).
  • Prickly heat (a rash induced by sweat trapped in the skin).
  • Genital and anal intertrigo (a rash that typically affects skin creases in the vagina or penis as a result of skin friction and dampness).

How to use Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • Before and after applying the lotion, wash your hands well. 

  • Make sure the afflicted region is clean and dry before applying the lotion.

  • Use a small layer of cream as suggested by your healthcare practitioner, carefully massaging it into the afflicted region.

  • Unless you have already applied the lotion to your hands, thoroughly wash them afterward.

  • To achieve the best effects when using Betnovate-C Ointment with a moisturizing lotion, allow the cream to fully absorb before applying the lotion.

  • Apply just enough lotion to the affected region once or twice each day.

  • As your skin improves, you may need to apply the cream less regularly.

Do not use Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • If you are allergic to betamethasone valerate, clioquinol, iodine, or any of the chemicals found in this product.

  • If the package is damaged or shows signs of tampering.

  • If the expiration date on the medication packaging has past.

  • If you suffer an allergic reaction or skin irritation after using this lotion. 

  • If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or breastfeed.

  • If you have other skin problems (e.g., widespread plaque psoriasis, fungal infections such as athletes foot or oral thrush, bacterial skin infections, skin tuberculosis, anal or genital itching, cold sores, shingles, chickenpox, skin tuberculosis, acne, itchy skin that is not inflamed, skin inflammation around the mouth, unusual redness of the face with papules or tiny blood vessels, or pus-filled bumps known as rosacea).
  • The use of this medication for other skin conditions may exacerbate your condition.
  • If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 
  • in youngsters under the age of two years.

Warnings & Precautions of Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • Stop taking the medication immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any allergy or skin responses to any of the substances found in this cream/ointment, such as skin itching, skin redness, shortness of breath, skin rash, or swelling of the face or neck.
  • This medication is intended for external topical use only, do not swallow this product.
  •  To avoid irritation, do not use the cream/ointment to your lips, eyes, mouth, sensitive neck areas, or nose angles.
  • If inadvertent contact occurs, spotless the area with warm water before patting it dry.
  • If you or your child develops visual difficulties (such as blurred vision), contact your doctor right away. 
  • Consult your doctor before starting this medication if you are allergic to any other medications, colors, foods, or preservatives, or if you have any other health concerns. Make sure to inform your healthcare providers that you are taking this medication.
  • Consult your doctor if your skin condition worsens, becomes infected, or does not appear to improve.
  • Do not share this medication with anybody else, even if they exhibit the same symptoms. 
  • This medicine should not be used for an extended period of time in big areas to avoid excessive absorption and subsequent unpleasant side effects.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or plan to take any other medications, including over-the-counter non-prescription drugs, prescription drugs, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.

Possible Side Effects of Betnovate-C Ointment: 

  • Skin rash.
  • Itching.
  • Warm or Burning sensation.

Advice To Reduce Skin Allergy:

  • Avoid contact with any potential allergens, such as particular meals, topical products, clothing fabrics, and even jewelry.
  • Before utilizing any things, ensure that you are aware of your allergens and that they are not present.
  • Avoid skin dryness by utilizing possible moisturizer.
  • Use an air conditioner and/or a humidifier, since when your skin is hot and/or dry, itching tends to worsen.
  • To reduce itching, consider using an ice pack or a light cooling agent (such as a cool washcloth).
  • UV rays can worsen your disease, so it is best to use suitable sunscreen.

Other medicines and Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or may take any other drugs, including topical products (e.g., creams, lotions, ointments).  
  • If you are taking itraconazole (a medication used to treat certain fungal infections).
  • If you are taking ritonavir (a treatment for human immunodeficiency virus).
  • If you are taking vigabatrin (used to treat some types of seizures). 

Alternative medicines to Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • Cleozone (Corticosteroid and antibiotic)

  • Petaval-C (Corticosteroid and antibiotic)

  • Petnovite-S (Corticosteroid and antibiotic)

What if you forget to take Betnovate-C Ointment?

  • If you forget to use BETNOVATE, apply it as soon as you realize and continue as usual.
  • Don't use extra BETNOVATE to make up for missed doses.
  • If you are unsure what to do, see your doctor or pharmacist.

How to store Betnovate-C Ointment:

  • Store below 25°C.
  • Do not refrigerate the container.
  • Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.
  • To avoid moisture, store in the original packaging.
  • Do not use this drug after the expiration date listed on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date represents the last day of the month.
