Product Name Xarelto 15 Mg, Anticoagulant, Reduce Risk Of Blood Clotting - 28 Tablets Scientific Name Rivaroxaban 15 Mg Tablets Category Of Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets Anti-Coagulants Drugs Mechanism Of Action Of Rivaroxaban Rivaroxaban is a selective inhibitor of factor Xa (FXa). It does not require a cofactor (such as Antithrombin III) for activity. Rivaroxaban inhibits free FXa and prothrombinase activity. Rivaroxaban has no direct effect on platelet aggregation, but indirectly inhibits platelet aggregation induced by thrombin. Therapeutic Indications Of Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets Prevents blood clots in the brain (stroke) and other blood vessels in the body if you have a form of irregular heart rhythm called nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and at least one additional risk factor. Treats blood clots in the veins of your legs and lungs and prevents blood clots from reoccurring in the vein of your legs and lungs. Method Of Administration Of Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets You must take Rivaroxaban every day together with a meal. Swallow the tablet(s) preferably with water. Your doctor will decide how much Rivaroxaban to give you. The amount will depend on the reason it is being used. Always take your medicine exactly as your doctor told you. If you are unsure about how to take your tablets, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions. If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose. Undesirable Side Effects Of Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from: reduction in red blood cells which can make the skin pale and cause weakness or breathlessness Bleeding in the stomach or bowel, urogenital bleeding, nose bleed, bleeding in the gum Bleeding into the eye (including bleeding from the whites of the eyes) Bleeding into the tissue or a cavity of the body (hematoma, bruising) Coughing up blood Bleeding from the skin or under the skin Bleeding following an operation Oozing of blood or fluid from the surgical wound Swelling in the limbs Pain in the limbs Impaired function of the kidneys (may be seen in tests performed by your doctor) Fever Stomach ache, indigestion, feeling or being sick, constipation, diarrhea Low blood pressure (symptoms may be feeling dizzy or fainting when standing up) Decreased general strength and energy (weakness, tiredness), headache, dizziness Rash, itchy skin Blood tests may show an increase in some liver enzymes Fainting Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Blood Clotting Wear loose-fitting clothes, socks, or stockings. Wear special stockings (called compression stockings) if your doctor prescribes them. Do exercises your doctor gives you. Change your position often, especially during a long trip. Do not stand or sit for more than 1 hour at a time. Take all medicines the doctor prescribes you. Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before you take this medicine if you have any of The following: if you have an increased risk of bleeding, as could be the case in some situations (such as severe kidney disease, a lung disease, if you have a prosthetic heart valve if you are taking other medicines to prevent blood clotting, in case of bleeding disorders or diseases of your stomach or bowel) If you have a prosthetic heart valve If you know that you have a disease called antiphospholipid syndrome (a disorder of the immune system that causes an increased risk of blood clots), tell your doctor who will decide if the treatment may need to be changed. If your doctor determines that your blood pressure is unstable or another treatment or surgical procedure to remove the blood clot from your lungs is planned Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements. Storage Conditions Of Xarelto 15 Mg Tablets Store below 25°c Don’t refrigerate Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store in the original package to protect from moisture. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
