ALOGLIPTIN is prescribed for people who still have high blood sugar, even though they have a sensible diet and exercise regularly. It works by increasing the amount of insulin that your body makes. Insulin is the hormone that controls sugar levels in your blood. ALOGLIPTIN is only available on prescription. It comes as tablets that you swallow. ALOGLIPTIN starts to work within a few hours. How To Use: ALOGLIPTIN comes as 25mg or 12.5mg tablets. The usual dose is 25mg a day. If you have problems with your kidneys, your doctor might give you a lower dose of 12.5mg a day. ALOGLIPTIN comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken with or without food once a day. Take ALOGLIPTIN at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take ALOGLIPTIN exactly as directed. Take ALOGLIPTIN once a day. You can take it at any time – for example, in the morning or in the evening. But try to take it at the same time every day. Take your tablet with a drink of water. Swallow the tablet whole, without breaking it. You can take ALOGLIPTIN with or without food. Warnings And Precautions: Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. ALOGLIPTIN controls diabetes but does not cure it. Continue to take ALOGLIPTIN even if you feel well. Do not stop taking ALOGLIPTIN without talking to your doctor. The most common side effects of ALOGLIPTIN are headaches, indigestion, diarrhea and skin rashes. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart failure, liver problems, disease of the pancreas (pancreatitis), stones in your gallbladder (gallstones). You may experience blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness due to extremely low or high blood sugar.
