Pentasa regulates chemicals in the body that produce inflammation, tissue damage, and diarrhea.Pentasa treats mild to moderate ulcerative colitis in adults. Ulcerative colitis is characterized by inflammation, ulcers, and sores in the colon, resulting in bleeding, stomach pain, and diarrhea.

Uses:

• Moderate ulcerative colitis in adults.
• Ulcers and sores.

Precautions and warnings:

Talk to your doctor if you have:

• Severe stomach pain.
• Stomach cramping.
• Bloody diarrhea. 

Side effects:

• Symptoms may include burping, constipation, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, gas, and dizziness.
• Cold symptoms include stuffy nose, sneezing, and sore throat.
• Back ache. 
• Headache.

• Abnormal liver function tests.
