Scientific Name:

  • Allergy & Cold Drugs.

Mechanism Of Action Of Paracetamol, Phenylephrine & Vitamin C:

  • Paracetamol acts on the hypothalamus to produce an antipyretic effect, as fever develops when the hypothalamus is set to a higher-than-normal temperature.
  • Paracetamol may work peripherally to block pain impulse generation; it may also inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in CNS.
  • Phenylephrine is a decongestant used for reducing nasal congestion caused by allergies or the common cold.
  • Phenylephrine causes blood vessels in the nasal passages to shrink (vasoconstrictor).
  • Vasoconstriction reduces nasal congestion by preventing fluid from draining from blood vessels into nasal passages.
  • Regular vitamin C supplements had several benefits, including Reduced cold severity.

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • It is used for the relief of the following indications:
  1. Headache.
  2. Congestion and sinus pain.
  3. Sneezing.
  4. Body aches.
  5. Itchy and watery eyes.
  6. Blocked and runny nose.
  7. Fever.
  8. Relief from cold and flu symptoms.

 

Method Of Administration Of Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Adults, elderly, and children over 12 years: Take 1 sachet every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed taking the medication more than 4 times a day.
  • Do not give Paracetamol/Phenylephrine hydrochloride/Vitamin C to children below 12 years of age.
  • Start by emptying the powder content of one sachet into a cup, filling it with hot water, and then start stirring the mixture until dissolved. You can sweeten the mixture if preferred with sugar or honey.
  • Do not take for more than 5 days or a higher dose than recommended.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

 

Undesirable Side Effects Of Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
  1. Headache.
  2. Minor nosebleeds (epistaxis) if used for over 6 weeks.
  3. Nasal ulceration.
  4. Pain in the throat.
  5. Shortness of breath.
  6. Pain, burning, irritation, soreness, or dryness on the inside of the nose.

 

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Allergy:

  • Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water to thin mucus.
  • Inhale steam: Take a hot shower, or boil water and pour it into a bowl, face the bowl (stay at least 1 foot away), place a towel over the back of your head to form a tent, and inhale.
  • Use a humidifier, for example, Vicks Air Humidifier, to loosen mucus
  • Avoid inhaled irritants such as dust, perfumes, or pollutants. Wear a face mask to reduce exposure to the allergen
  • Sometimes smoke irritates your airways and causes inflammation that turns into bronchitis. Stopping smoking will help you to get rid of your cough.
  • Lozenges like Strepsils soothe an irritated throat.

 

Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • Before you use this medicine talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
  1. If you suffer from bronchial asthma.
  2. If you have or have had a peptic ulcer.
  3. If you suffer from hypertension or any heart disease.
  4. If you suffer from Hepatic disease.
  5. If you suffer from Renal impairment.
  6. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.

 

Storage Conditions Of Panadol Vapour Release Sachets:

  • Store below 25°c.
  • Don’t refrigerate.
  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store in the original package to protect it from moisture.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
