This medication belongs to the class of drugs known as antispasmodics.
This medication is used to treat an overactive bladder. By relaxing the muscles in the bladder, tolterodine improves your ability to control your urination. It helps to reduce leaking of urine, feelings of needing to urinate right away, and frequent trips to the bathroom.

Tolterodine is a medicine that is used for the treatment of patients with symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome.
Overactive bladder syndrome may cause signs like inability to control urination, having the urge to rush to the toilet with no previous warning, and/or frequent urination.
Method Of Administration Of Detrusitol 2 Mg Tablets
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

The recommended dose:
The usual recommended dose is one 2 mg tablet orally twice daily.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Detrusitol 2 Mg Tablets
Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
Bronchitis, chest pain, dizziness, drowsiness, increased weight, dry eyes, blurred vision, dry skin, tiredness, diarrhea, vertigo, indigestion, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, palpitations, vomiting, painful or difficult urination, edema (e.g. in the ankles) and sensation of pins and needles in the fingers and toes.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Detrusitol 2 Mg Tablets
Talk to your doctor before starting this medicine if you ever experience a decrease in bowel movements or if you are severely constipated.
Talk to your doctor before starting this medicine if you have abnormally low blood levels of potassium, magnesium, or calcium.
Stop the medication right away and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure, and dizziness.
Make sure that you tell your doctor about all your medical problems before you receive this medicine including if you have neuronal problems that may affect your bowel function, sexual function or blood pressure, difficulties in passing urine, and/or a poor stream of urine, a gastrointestinal (stomach or bowel) disease that affects the digestion and passage of food passage, kidney or liver problems, or if you have a hiatal hernia (herniation of an abdominal organ).

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
