What is Wegovy (Semaglutide)?

Wegovy is an injectable prescription medicine that contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is used for chronic weight management in adults who are obese or overweight and have weight-related medical problems such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.

 
Administration

Route: Subcutaneous injection (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
Timing: On the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food
Dose Escalation: Treatment usually begins at 0.25 mg per week and gradually increases every 4 weeks until the target dose (1 mg or higher) is reached. This helps reduce potential side effects like nausea.

Form: Prefilled single-use pen
Use: One-time use only; dispose of properly after each injection
