what is Ursodeoxycholic acid used for : Ursofalk is indicated in the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and for the dissolution of radiolucent gallstones in patients with a functioning gall bladder. Hepatobiliary disorders associated with cystic fibrosis in children aged 6 to 18 years. How to use: For the first 3 months of treatment, Ursofalk capsules should be taken divided over the day. With improvement of the liver values the daily dose may be taken once daily in the evening. The capsules should be swallowed whole with some liquid. Care should be taken to ensure that they are taken regularly. Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions. If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose. Possible side effects : Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from: Diarrhoea. Itching/pruritus. Urticaria (nettle rash) Allergic reactions. Nausea/vomiting. Sleep disturbance. Warnings and precautions: Ursofalk capsules can affect the absorption of ciclosporin from the intestine. In patients receiving ciclosporin treatment, blood concentrations of this substance should therefore be checked by the physician and the ciclosporin dose adjusted if necessary. Storage Conditions Of Ursofalk: Store below 25. Don’t freeze. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store in the original package to protect from moisture. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
