Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die. Ampicillin is similar to penicillin in its bactericidal action Sulbactam is in a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying Ampicillin.
