What is Trulicity 1.5 mg used for 

• Trulicity is used to reduce blood sugar (glucose) in people and children with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are 10 years of age and older. It also helps prevent heart disease. The active ingredient in Trulicity is called dulaglutide.

• With type 2 diabetes, your body produces insufficient amounts of insulin and the insulin it does produce is not functioning at its optimal level.
• when diet and exercise alone are unable to adequately regulate your blood sugar levels, and you are unable to take metformin, another diabetes medication, trulicity is taken on its own or in conjunction with additional diabetes medications if they are insufficient to regulate your blood sugar levels. 

Doses and considerations

• Starting: 0.5 mg SC once every week
• Maybe up the dosage to 1.5 mg once a week to help with glucose control.
• After taking 1.5 mg for at least 4 weeks, increase to 3 mg once weekly if more glycemic control is required.

• Not advised as a first-line treatment for those who don't follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

• Not studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis; take into account an alternative antidiabetic treatment

• Not for the management of diabetic ketoacidosis or type 1 diabetes mellitus

• Not for individuals who already have a serious GI condition

Administration

•  Subcutaneous :get Ready before using, visually inspect; The solution ought to seem colorless and transparent; If there are visible particles or coloring, do not use.
• SC Management: apply once a week, anytime of the day.
• Take with or without food.
• Inject SC into the upper arm, thigh, or belly; switch injection sites after each dosage.
• If the last dose was given more than three days ago, the weekly administration day may need to be changed.

Possible adverse reactions

• If you have any side effects such as tightness in your throat, swelling in your eyes, lips, or tongue, dizziness, or trouble breathing, stop using the product right once and visit a doctor.
• If you have facial or body itching or break out in hives, stop using the product.

Co-administration with insulin

• When using with insulin, administer as separate injections and never mix
• May inject dulaglutide and insulin in same body region, but injections should not be adjacent to each other

How to store?

• Keep youngsters away from this medication and out of their reach.
• The expiration date of this medication is indicated on the pen label and the carton after EXP. Do not use it after that date.
• The last day of that month is referred to as the expiration date.
• Keep refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C.
• Avoid freezing.
• Keep away from light by storing in the original box.
• When stored at a temperature below 30 °C, dulaglutide can be left out of the refrigerator for up to 14 days.
• If you see any signs of damage to the pen or if the medication appears hazy, discolored, or contains particles, do not use it.
