Mechanism Of Action Of Itraconazole
Itraconazole works by altering the fungal cell membrane
It exerts its fungistatic effect by selectively inhibiting 14-alpha demethylase. This is a cytochrome P-450 enzyme that is necessary for synthesizing ergosterol, which is an important component of the fungal cell membrane.
Therapeutic Indications Of Sporanox 100 Mg Capsules
It is an azole antifungal, indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail mainly.
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (infection of the vagina)
Oral candidiasis (infection of the mouth)
Method Of Administration Of Sporanox 100 Mg Capsules
Itraconazole capsules should be taken after a full meal
Separate from taking it with antacids or gastric secretion suppressors.
It can be taken any time of the day
Do not break the capsule in half
Take this medicine as indicated by your doctor
The dosing may depend on the site and severity of your infection.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
