Product Name Rinofed Plus, Relieves Cold & Allergy - 30 Tablets Scientific Name Triprolidine 2.5 Mg + Pseudoephedrine 50 Mg + Paracetamol 300 Mg Tablets Category Of Rinofed Plus Tablets Allergy & Cold Drugs Mechanism Of Action Of Triprolidine & Pseudoephedrine H1-receptor are present in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract. Triprolidine has anticholinergic and sedative effects. Triprolidine binds to the histamine H1 receptor. This blocks the action of endogenous histamine, which subsequently leads to temporary relief of the negative symptoms brought on by histamine Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic with a mixed mechanism of action, direct and indirect. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant used for reducing nasal congestion caused by allergies or the common cold. Pseudoephedrine causes blood vessels in the nasal passages to shrink (vasoconstrictor). Vasoconstriction reduces nasal congestion by preventing fluid from draining from blood vessels into nasal passages. Therapeutic Indications Of Rinofed Plus Tablets This drug relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, such as: nasal and sinus congestion sneezing runny nose watery, itchy eyes Method Of Administration Of Rinofed Plus Tablets Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The average doses: Children under 12 years: This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years old. Adults and children aged 12 years and over: One tablet every 4 - 6 hours, up to 4 times a day. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions. If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose. Undesirable Side Effects Of Rinofed Plus Tablets Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from: Headache Difficulty sleeping, nervousness, dizziness Difficulty performing tasks Drowsiness Blurred Vision Thickened mucus, dry mouth, or nausea Confusion or depression Tremors, shakiness, or slurred speech Low blood pressure Tingling or numbness of hands or feet High blood pressure Nose bleeds, dry nose or dry throat Stomach pain or vomiting Pain when passing urine Reduced blood flow to the optic nerve Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Rinofed Plus Tablets If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Allergy Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water to thin mucus. Inhale steam: Take a hot shower, or boil water and pour it into a bowl, face the bowl (stay at least 1 foot away), place a towel over the back of your head to form a tent, and inhale. Use a humidifier, for example, Vicks Air Humidifier, to loosen mucus Avoid inhaled irritants such as dust, perfumes, or pollutants. Wear face mask to reduce the exposure to the allergen Sometimes smoke irritates your airways and causes inflammation that turns into bronchitis. Stopping smoking will help you to get rid of your cough. Lozenges like Strepsils soothes an irritated throat Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Rinofed Plus Tablets Before you use this medicine talk to your doctor or pharmacist: If you suffer from bronchial asthma If you have or have had a peptic ulcer If you suffer from Hepatic disease If you suffer from Hepatic disease If you suffer from Renal impairment If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements. Storage Conditions Of Rinofed Plus Tablets Store below 25°c Don’t refrigerate Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store in the original package to protect from moisture. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
