Product Description:

Apixaban is used to reduce the risk of a blood clot-related stroke in persons with atrial fibrillation.

Uses:

• After hip or knee replacement surgery to avoid deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can result in pulmonary embolism.
• Treat DVT or pulmonary embolism (PE).
• Reduce the risk of recurrent DVT or PE.

Precautions and warnings:

• You should not take apixaban if you are allergic to it.
• Do not stop taking apixaban unless your doctor tells you to.

Side effects:

• Easy bruising and unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum). 
  
• Bleeding from wounds or needle injections, or any persistent bleeding.
  
• Severe menstrual bleeding.
  
• Headache, dizziness, weakness, and the sense of passing out. 
  
• Urine that appears crimson, pink, or brown. 
  
• Black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, or vomit that resembles coffee grounds.
