Moxifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Product Description:
Moxifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics.
It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.
It will not work for virus infections (such as common cold, flu).
Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections.
How To Use:
Acute Bacterial Sinusitis
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 5-10 days
Limitations-of-use:
Reserve fluoroquinolones for patients who do not have other available treatment options for acute sinusitis
Community-Acquired Pneumonia:
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 7-14 days
Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis:
Indicated for acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis caused by bacterial infections
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 5 days
Limitations-of-use:
Reserve fluoroquinolones for patients who do not have other available treatment options for acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
Skin & Skin Structure Infections:
Uncomplicated:
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 7 day
Complicated:
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 7-21 days
Intra-abdominal Infections
Complicated:
400 mg Oral tablet once daily for 5-14 days.
Pneumonic & Septicemic Plague:
Indicated in adults for the treatment of plague, including pneumonic and septicemic plague, caused by susceptible isolates of Yersinia pestis; it is also indicated for prophylaxis of plague in adults.
400 mg Oral tablet once dailyx10-14 days.
Begin administration as soon as possible after suspected or confirmed exposure to Yersinia pestis.
Child dosage (ages 0–17 years):
It hasn’t been confirmed that this drug is safe and effective for use in children younger than 18 years.
Warnings And Precautions:
It is very important that your doctor check your progress at regular visits while you are using this medicine to make sure this medicine is working properly.

If you have low potassium levels in the blood, moxifloxacin may increase your risk of having a fast, slow or irregular heartbeat, loss of consciousness, or fainting spells.

This medicine may cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening and require immediate medical attention.

Serious side effects can occur during treatment with this medicine and can sometimes occur without warning. Possible warning signs include black, tarry stools, blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, bloody or cloudy urine, chills, decreased urination, diarrhea, fever, joint or muscle pain, red skin lesions, often with a purple center, sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips, severe stomach pain, skin rash, swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs, unusual bleeding or bruising, unusual weight gain, or yellow skin or eyes.
Check with your doctor immediately if you notice any of these warning signs.
Moxifloxacin may lower the number of some types of blood cells in your body.

To help with these problems, avoid being near people who are sick or have infections.
Wash your hands often. Stay away from rough sports or other situations where you could be bruised, cut, or injured.
Brush and floss your teeth gently. Be careful when using sharp objects, including razors and fingernail clippers.
Moxifloxacin may cause diarrhea, and in some cases it can be severe.

Do not take any medicine to treat diarrhea without checking first with your doctor.
Diarrhea medicines may make the diarrhea worse or make it last longer.
