Mechanism Of Action Of Latanoprost
Latanoprost is a prostanoid selective FP receptor agonist that is believed to reduce the intraocular pressure (IOP) by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor.
Therapeutic Indications Of Latano Eye Drops
It is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Method Of Administration Of Latano Eye Drops
Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medication before putting in your contact lenses. Tilt your head back, look up, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place 1 drop in the pouch, usually 2 times daily (12 hours apart) or as directed by your doctor.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Latano Eye Drops
Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
Temporary blurred vision, temporary burning/stinging/itching/redness of the eye, watery eyes, dry eyes, dry mouth, feeling as if something is in the eye, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Latano Eye Drops
This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
Breast-feeding: It is not known if it passes into breast milk.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Exercise safely: Regular exercise may reduce eye pressure in open-angle glaucoma.

Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Latano Eye Drops
It is very important that your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) check your progress at regular visits to make sure the medicine is working properly and is not causing unwanted effects.
If itching, redness, swelling, or other signs of eye or eyelid irritation occur, check with your doctor.
If you or your child have an eye injury or infection, or need to have eye surgery, talk with your doctor right away.
You may need to change the medicine or stop using it.
This medicine may cause some people to become lightheaded, dizzy, drowsy, tired, or less alert than they are normally.
Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
This medicine may add to the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants (medicines that make you drowsy or less alert). Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicines for allergies, sedatives or sleeping medicine, prescription pain medicine or narcotics, medicine for seizures or barbiturates, muscle relaxants, or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics.
Check with your doctor before taking any of the above while you are using this medicine.
Brimonidine may cause your eyes to become more sensitive to light than they are normally.
Wearing sunglasses and avoiding too much exposure to bright light may help lessen the discomfort.

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.
