Mechanism Of Action Of Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid
• Penicillin kills bacteria through the binding of the beta-lactam ring to DD-transpeptidase, inhibiting its cross-linking activity and preventing new cell wall formation. Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.
• Amoxicillin is similar to penicillin in its bactericidal action
• Clavulanic acid is in a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying amoxicillin.
 
Therapeutic Indications Of Julmentin ES Suspension
• Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid is used in adults and children to treat the following infections:
1. middle ear and sinus infections
2. Respiratory tract infections
3. Urinary tract infections
4. Skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections
5. Bone and joint infections
 
Method Of Administration Of Julmentin ES Suspension
• Follow all directions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist
• You may give/take amoxicillin before, with, or after food. Space the doses as evenly as possible throughout the day
• Your doctor will advise you on how much medicine you should give to your baby or child. The usual dose is 40mg to 90mg of amoxicillin for each kilogram of body weight a day, given in two or three divided doses.
• Doses may be different between patients depending on the severity and type of infection.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
