Insulin Lispro 100 units/ml solution for injection in prefilled pen used to treat diabetes.

What Insulin Lispro is used for: Insulin Lispro is used to treat diabetes. Insulin Lispro works more quickly than normal human insulin because the insulin molecule has been changed slightly. Insulin Lispro is a substitute for your own insulin and is used to control glucose in the long term. It works very quickly and lasts a shorter time than soluble insulin (2 to 5 hours). Insulin Lispro is suitable for use in adults and children. Do not use Insulin Lispro: if you think hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is starting. Further in this leaflet it tells you how to deal with mild hypoglycemia if you are allergic to insulin lispro or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Warnings and Precautions: Tell your doctor about all of your health conditions, including, if you have: trouble with your kidneys or liver. heart disease or previous stroke. signs of heart failure such as unusual shortness of breath or rapid increase in weight or localized swelling. Possible side effects of Insulin Lispro: Insulin Lispro can cause serious side effects. These side effects happen only to a small number of people and include: low blood sugar severe allergic reaction low potassium in your blood (hypokalemia) heart failure Other medicines and Insulin Lispro: Please tell your doctor, if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Especially if you take medicines for: birth control, pain, hormonal replacement, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, depression, auto-immune diseases and infection. How to use Insulin Lispro: Use Insulin Lispro exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Use Insulin Lispro 30 minutes before eating a meal. Know the type, strength, and amount of insulin you use. Do not change the type, or amount of insulin you use unless your healthcare provider tells you to. The amount of insulin and the best time for you to take your insulin may need to change if you use different types of insulin. Check your insulin label each time you give your injection to make sure you are using the correct insulin. Inject Insulin Lispro under the skin (subcutaneously) of your upper legs (thighs), upper arms, buttocks or stomach area (abdomen). Do not inject Insulin Lispro into your vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). Change (rotate) your injection sites within the area you choose with each dose to reduce your risk of getting lipodystrophy (pits in skin or thickened skin) and localized cutaneous amyloidosis (skin with lumps) at the injection sites. Check your blood sugar levels. Ask your healthcare provider what your blood sugars should be and when you should check your blood sugar levels. Do not share your or syringes with other people, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection or get a serious infection from them. How to store Insulin Lispro: Before the first use store your Insulin Lispro in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Do not freeze. Keep your cartridge in use at room temperature (below 30°C) and discard after 28 days. Do not put it near heat or in the sun. Do not keep your pen or the cartridges you are using in the fridge. The pen with the inserted cartridge should not be stored with the needle attached. Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not use this medicine if you notice it is colored or it has solid pieces in it. You must use it only if it looks like water. Check this each time you inject yourself. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Dosage form and route of administration of Insulin Lispro in pen or vial should be prescribed according to therapeutic indication and disease severity of each individual patient.
