What Peppermint oil is used for:
  • Peppermint oil is an antispasmodic that is used for the relief of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) signs like, painful cramps and bloating that happen in your bowel between the navel, the groin and the sides.
  • Peppermint oil acts by relaxing the spasm occurring in your bowel which helps in reducing the pain and pushes the pockets of gas to pass along your bowel and out of the body and thus decreases bloating.
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome signs and symptoms may be more apparent when you are anxious and stressed.
Do not take Peppermint oil:
  • If you are allergic to Peppermint oil, or any of the ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
  • If you are allergic to soya or peanuts (this product contains peanut oil).
Warnings & Precautions:
  • Stop the medication right away and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure, and dizziness. 
  • Talk to your doctor for advice if this is the first time that you experience these symptoms. 
  • Talk to your doctor if your symptoms are getting worse or have not improved after 2 weeks. 
  • This medication may worsen heartburn if you already suffer from it. Stop taking this medicine if this happens. 
  • Avoid drinking alcohol with this medicine.
Possible Side Effects: 
  • Possible side effects include signs of an allergic reaction, like rash and itching, burning sensation in your throat and mouth, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, heartburn, and anal discomfort.
Other medicines and Peppermint oil:
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications.
  • Make sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist about any indigestion medicines that you are taking. 
How to take Peppermint oil:
  • Adults and children 15 years and over
  • The recommended dose is one capsule orally three times a day. If signs are severe, you may take 2 capsules orally three times a day. 
  • Children under 15 years
  • The use of this medicine is not recommended for children under 15 years old.
  • Do not take the capsule right after food.
  • Do not eat for around 30 to 60 minutes after taking your medicine.
  • Swallow the capsule with a small quantity of water. Do not crush or chew the capsule. 
  • Make sure to take this medicine until your symptoms have stopped (1 to 2 weeks). 
  • Make sure not to take this medicine with other indigestion medicines (they may cause damage to the capsule).
  • This medicine is made of hard gelatin capsules which could break. Therefore, make sure to push out the capsule from the blister pocket by pressing on the end of it with slight pressure.
How to store Peppermint oil:
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Store medication below 25°C.
  • Do not use beyond the expiry date mentioned on the box. 
  • Keep the medication in its original pack to protect it from moisture and light.
  • Do not use damaged capsules.
  • Do not dispose of medication in the wastewater or household waste .
