INTRODUCTION CERTICAN 0.75MG contains Everolimus is an antineoplastic chemotherapy drug. This medication is classified as an mTOR kinase inhibitor. It reduces the blood supply to the tumour and slows down the growth and spread of cancer cells. This medicine is used to treat people with advanced kidney cancer and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA) by slowing the growth and spread of tumour cells. It is also used as Prophylaxis of organ rejection in kidney and liver transplant. USES OF CERTICAN 0.75MG • Breast cancer • Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) • Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) HOW CERTICAN 0.75MG WORKS CERTICAN 0.75MG works by inhibiting mTor kinase, an enzyme required for cell growth and survival. By blocking this enzyme, it prevents cell division and, in turn, tumor growth. This medicine can also interrupt the development of blood vessels (angiogenesis) that supply with nutrients, which tumor need to grow. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Always take CERTICAN 0.75MG exactly as your doctor has directed you. Avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medicine. Swallow this medicine whole and do not chew or crush it. SIDE EFFECTS OF CERTICAN 0.75MG SERIOUS • Difficulty breathing or swallowing • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat • Severe itching of the skin COMMON • Increased temperature • Chills (signs of infection) • Fever, coughing and wheezing • Excessive thirst • High or low urine output • Increased appetite with weight loss • Tiredness • Bleeding WARNING & PRECAUTIONS PREGNANCY CERTICAN 0.75MG should be used with caution in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. INTERACTIONS Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following: • Ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole or fluconazole (used to treat fungal infections) • Clarithromycin, telithromycin and erythromycin (used to treat bacterial infections) • Ritonavir, efavirenz and nevirapine (used to treat HIV infection/AIDS) • Verapamil or diltiazem (used to treat heart conditions or high blood pressure) • Dronedarone (used to regulate heartbeat) • Ciclosporin • Imatinib (inhibits the growth of abnormal cells) • Ramipril • Rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis) • Dexamethasone • Phenytoin, carbamazepine or phenobarbital
