Cefalexin is indicated in the treatment of the following infections:

What Cefalexin is and what it is used for:
Cefalexin is semi synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration.
Cefalexin is indicated in the treatment of the following infections:
Respiratory tract infections.
otitis media; skin and soft tissue infections.
bone and joint infections; genito-urinary infections.
including acute prostatitis and dental infections.
What you need to know before you use Cefalexin
Do not use Cefalexin
If you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Or to any other cephalosporin or penicillin drugs.
Warnings and precautions:
The dosage must be adjusted according to the grade of renal impairment.
Inform your doctor in case of diarrhea, since pseudomembranous colitis has been reported with This medicine.
The result of the Coombs' test can be transiently positive during or after treatment with Cefalexin Urinary sugar should be determined enzymatically (e.g. with test strips) during treatment with Cefalexinsince reduction tests can furnish falsely elevated values.
Do not take this medicine if you have galactose intolerance.
Other medicines and Cefalexin
Probenecid causes reduced excretion of cefalexin leading to increased plasma concentrations.
Cephalosporins may have an increased risk of nephrotoxicity (renal toxicity) in the presence of Amphotericin, loop diuretics, aminoglycosides, capreomycin or vancomycin.
How To Use:
Cefalexin is for oral use
Adults: 1-4g daily in divided doses; most infections will respond to a dosage of 500mg every 8 hours.
For skin and soft tissue infections, streptococcal pharyngitis and mild, uncomplicated urinary Tract Infections, the usual dosage is 250mg every 6 hours, or 500mg every 12 hours.
More severe infections, or those caused by less susceptible organisms may need larger doses
Dose adjustment is required in case of renal impairment
Pediatric population: The recommended daily dosage for children is 25-50mg/kg (10-20mg/lb) in Divided doses
In severe infections, the dosage may be doubled
Possible side effects
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you.
develop urticaria, rash, tightness of the chest, wheezing, hypotension.
How to store Cefalexin
Do not store above 25°C.
Keep the container tightly closed (for bottles).
Store in the original package (for blisters).
