Product Description:

• Each single-use pre-filled pen contains 30 micrograms (6 million IU) of interferon beta-1a in 0.5mL of solution. The concentration is 30 micrograms per 0.5 milliliter.

Uses:

• AVONEX PEN is a pre-filled pen designed for single use and should only be used after proper training.
• The upper, outside thigh muscle is the preferred intramuscular injection site for the AVONEX PEN.
• The injection location should be changed every week.

Precautions and warnings:

• AVONEX is contraindicated in patients having a history of hypersensitivity to natural or recombinant interferon beta, or any other component of the formula. 

Side effects:

The most common flu-like symptoms include:

• Myalgia.

• Fever.

• Chills.

• Sweating.

• Asthenia.

• Headache.

• and Nausea.

Ingredients and Concentration:

• Each 0.5 mL (30 microgram dose) of the AVONEX PEN comprises:

  • 30 micrograms of interferon beta-1a

  • 0.79 mg Sodium Acetate Trihydrate.

  • USP; 0.25 mg Glacial Acetic Acid.

  • USP; 15.8 mg Arginine Hydrochloride.

  • USP; and 0.025 mg Polysorbate 20 in Water for Injection.

  • USP at a pH of around 4.8.

Pharmacological classification:

• Immunomodulator.

Number of Pens:

• Each box includes one Avonex Pen, one needle, and a pen cover.

How to Use:

• AVONEX PEN is a pre-filled pen designed for single use and should only be used after proper training.

Storage Conditions:

• Refrigerate (2°C-8°C).
