Atomibe 20/10 mg 30 tabs
ATOMIBE helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and a history of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), regardless of prior statin use
Product Name: ATOMIBE
Therapeutic Indications
Prevention of Cardiovascular Events: ATOMIBE helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and a history of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), regardless of prior statin use.
Primary Hypercholesterolaemia / Mixed Hyperlipidaemia: Used as an adjunct to diet in adults whose cholesterol levels are not adequately controlled with a statin alone or who are already using separate statin and ezetimibe tablets.
Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH): Suitable as an adjunct to diet in adults with HoFH and may be combined with other treatments such as LDL apheresis.
Mechanism of Action and Benefits
ATOMIBE combines Ezetimibe, which reduces intestinal absorption of cholesterol, and Atorvastatin, which inhibits cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This dual action results in reduced total cholesterol, LDL-C ("bad" cholesterol), and triglycerides, while increasing HDL-C ("good" cholesterol).
Do Not Use ATOMIBE If
You are allergic to any of the ingredients, have liver problems, abnormal liver test results, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid if using glecaprevir/pibrentasvir for hepatitis C or if not using reliable contraception while being a woman of childbearing potential.
Warnings and Precautions
Consult your doctor before use if you have kidney issues, thyroid problems, muscle disorders, liver disease, drink excessive alcohol, are over 70 years, or are taking fusidic acid. Report any unexplained muscle pain or weakness, as this could indicate serious muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis).
Drug Interactions
Inform your doctor if you are taking medications for infections (like erythromycin, fusidic acid), fungal infections (like ketoconazole), HIV or hepatitis C, lipid regulation, heart rhythm, seizures, or depression. Avoid grapefruit juice in large quantities.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Do not take ATOMIBE if pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding. Use only if effective contraception is in place. Contact your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.
Use in Children
ATOMIBE is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
Driving and Machine Use
Generally, ATOMIBE does not affect driving ability, but some individuals may experience dizziness.
Allergies and Intolerances
Contains lactose and should not be used by individuals with sugar intolerance unless approved by a doctor. It is sodium-free.
How to Use
Take one tablet daily, with or without food, at any time of the day. Continue following a cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment. If also taking bile acid sequestrants, take ATOMIBE 2 hours before or 4 hours after them. If you miss a dose, take the next one at the regular time the following day.
