Liptyn contains linagliptin as its active ingredient, which is part of a class of medications known as "oral anti-diabetics." These medicines are designed to manage high blood sugar levels by assisting the body in lowering the amount of sugar in the blood.

 Product Description:

Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing incretin levels, which enhance insulin secretion and reduce glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. This helps improve blood sugar control in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

 How to Use

Dosage Form: Oral tablet.

Usage: Take as prescribed by your doctor.

Ingredients:

Linagliptin 5 mg (30 tablets).

Do Not Take Liptyn If:

You are allergic to linagliptin or any of the ingredients in this medication (refer to Section 6).

Warnings and Precautions:

Consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using Liptyn if:

You have type 1 diabetes (your body does not produce insulin) or diabetic ketoacidosis, a diabetes-related complication characterized by high blood sugar, rapid weight loss, nausea, or vomiting. Note: Liptyn is not suitable for treating these conditions.
You are taking a sulphonylurea medication (e.g., glimepiride, glipizide). Your doctor may need to adjust your sulphonylurea dose when taken with Liptyn to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
You have previously experienced allergic reactions to other medications for controlling blood sugar.
You have or have had pancreatic disease. Seek medical advice if you experience symptoms of acute pancreatitis, such as severe, persistent abdominal pain.
You notice blistering of the skin, which could indicate a condition called bullous pemphigoid. Your doctor may recommend discontinuing Liptyn.
Patients with diabetes are also advised to adhere to their healthcare provider’s instructions for proper skin and foot care to manage common complications.

Children and Adolescents:

Liptyn is not recommended for individuals under 18 years old.

Interactions with Other Medicines:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or plan to take any other medications, especially if they contain:

Carbamazepine, phenobarbital, or phenytoin: Used for seizures or chronic pain.
Rifampicin: An antibiotic for infections such as tuberculosis.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, consult your doctor before using Liptyn.
The safety of Liptyn during pregnancy is not established, so it is best to avoid using it.
It is unknown whether Liptyn passes into breast milk. Your doctor will decide whether to discontinue the medication or breastfeeding.

Driving and Using Machines:

Liptyn has little or no effect on your ability to drive or operate machinery.
However, combining Liptyn with sulphonylureas or insulin may lead to hypoglycemia, potentially impairing your ability to drive. Regular blood sugar monitoring is advised to minimize this risk.

How to Use This Product:

Follow your doctor’s instructions exactly. The usual dose is one 5 mg tablet daily, with or without food.
Your doctor may prescribe Liptyn alongside other oral anti-diabetic medications. Ensure you take all prescribed medicines as directed for optimal results.

Missed Dose:

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one. Avoid taking two doses on the same day.
Overdose:

If you take more Liptyn than prescribed, seek medical attention immediately.
Stopping Treatment:

Do not discontinue Liptyn without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to increased blood sugar levels.
