This drug has a follicle-stimulating hormone effect and a luteinizing hormone effect. Menotropin stimulates the growth and development of the egg follicle (follicle-stimulating hormone effect), causes ovulation (luteinizing hormone effect) , stimulates the development of the corpus luteum (luteinizing hormone effect), in males it stimulates spermatogenesis (luteinizing hormone effect). Lutein) stimulates ovarian follicle growth in women who do not have primary ovarian failure. 

Menotropin is a mixture of follicle-stimulating hormone and corpus luteum-stimulating hormone, which are extracted from the urine of postmenopausal women. Menotropin works on the growth and maturation of ovarian eggs in women who do not suffer from primary ovarian failure. It also works to stimulate sperm production in men.

What are the uses of Epigonal?
This medication is used as part of an assisted reproductive program for multiple follicle development and pregnancy in women.
Stimulates ovulation in those who suffer from insufficient ovulation, but not due to primary ovarian failure.
It is used in combination with human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) for the development of multiple follicles.
It is used in men to stimulate sperm production .
What are the contraindications for using Epigonal?
It is prohibited to use the medicine without consulting a specialist doctor in the following cases:

Menotropin contraindications for both men and women
Tumors of the pituitary gland or hypothalamus .
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
Irregularity of non-reproductive endocrine glands such as the thyroid , adrenal gland and pituitary gland.
Tumors dependent on reproductive hormones.
Menotropin contraindications for women only
Ovarian, uterine or breast cancer .
Pregnancy and breastfeeding period.
Ovarian cysts or enlarged ovaries are not caused by polycystic ovary disease .
Abnormal uterine bleeding, the cause of which is unknown.
Cases of infertility that are not caused by anovulation.
Primary ovarian failure (which can be characterized by an elevated level of follicle-stimulating hormone).
Menotropin contraindications for men only
Tumors in the testicles .
Prostate cancer .
What are the precautions for using Epigonal?
It should be used with caution under the supervision of a physician in the following cases:

Liver or kidney failure.
Pregnancy: It is not given to pregnant women.
Breastfeeding: It is not given to breastfeeding women.
Children: Safety of use is not known.
Menotropin and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
Some women using this medication may experience a condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome , often occurring within the first 10 days after receiving the last dose in a treatment cycle.

Symptoms of this syndrome include: ovarian enlargement, abdominal swelling and pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fluid deficiency, electrolyte imbalance, swelling of the feet and hands, weight gain, and thrombolytics. This condition requires urgent medical intervention. 

What are the drug interactions of Epigonal?
It is best to tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medications, herbs, vitamins, and nutritional supplements before starting treatment.

It is recommended not to coadminister with the following medications:

Gonadorlin.
Clomophene.
What are the doses of Epigonal and methods of use?
For women: It begins on the second or third day of the treatment cycle at a dose of 225 units once daily, for 5 days. Then we adjust the dose, which is adjusted at least every two days, and the dose is increased or decreased by an amount not exceeding 150 units.
For men: After prior treatment with hCG, menotropin is taken at a dose of 75 units 3 times/week, in addition to giving hCG twice/week until sperm are detected in the semen.
Results usually appear within 4-6 months, and if there is not an adequate response after 6 months of treatment, then the dose of menotropin can be increased to 150 units, 3 times a week for an additional 6 months.
The medicine is not placed into the syringe unless the patient is ready to take this dose.
Any portion of the mixed medication that is not used should be discarded immediately.

What are the storage conditions for Epigonal?
Store in the refrigerator or at room temperature away from light, heat and moisture.

How to use Epigonal
Subcutaneous injections are given in the abdominal area only.
If you forget a dose, you should consult a doctor.
It is recommended to rest from any effort and avoid strenuous work.
